Shared interests made practical opportunities

Aligned coordination for long-term, resilient research and development initiatives

01

Native to health and life science, structured by real-world challenges

02

Non-partisan and no capture

03

Reciprocal and unbiased across all allied regions

04

Pre-competitive

05

Innate continuity

Translating new health and life science technologies from research and incubation to market — especially across borders — requires capabilities that often fall between or across institutional mandates

06

Replacing uncertainty with candor and action

The LSDA shapes opportunities that otherwise fail between mandates by incorporating key functional areas, policy, and investment from the beginning

07

Built-in Resiliency

All opportunities are required to plan for four critical risk scenarios to minimize future economic, governance, geopolitical, and technical challenges

Helping individual mandates be fulfilled while contributing to something larger

01

Aligning regions with complementary strengths

Building on shared goals and within the realities of governance and regulatory boundaries, capabilities are no longer limited by traditional hubs and clusters.

Working direct across functions

Leaders of innovation centres, risk capital, policymaking, research institutes, and regional clusters have tended to stay siloed. Our provocations and working groups shape the whole bench-to-bedside translational pathway to bring key functions to the forefront from the beginning.

Connections led by real opportunities & capabilities

Members engage in developing opportunities, building collaborations, and leading challenges according to actual capabilities and requirements — not basic transactions.

FAQ

Good Questions

No, although it is a robust community. The LSDA is an industry-led coalition operationalizing international collaborations.

Absolutely. We combine work efforts and help structure opportunities for everything to go farther together — not recreate the wheel. Academic thinking, policy analysts, and specialists with macro views such as geopolitics and geoeconomics all have a place here. We need more connectivity between functions, backgrounds, and geographies, not less.

It is — but it isn’t only embassy work. Science diplomacy, and economic diplomacy, both are essential to creating a more productive, stable global landscape. This is the hard work of building long-term, large-scale partnerships between countries.

Allied geographies that are able to cooperate with pre-competitive research and operational collaborations within the governance, regulatory, and security frameworks on that opportunity.

Science and health data have their own special nuances and requirements, particularly internationally, as do technologies that can be considered security assets. Most regions in which the LSDA can operate are NATO countries. Some regions are outside of NATO and can be involved in certain capacities. Similarly, many countries can operate under a shared non-dilutive funding framework — yet others that can participate simply operationalize under a different opportunity shape.

It can be simply an idea (a “0-1” opportunity) or something more formed and needing additional partners (a “1-2” opportunity). What would your team build if you had the right collaborators?

The LSDA is funded by sponsors: innovation clusters, professional service firms, and industry partners. Every organization sponsors the same amount and, in return, receives visibility at our in-person Summits and research that helps them make decisions. All decisions regarding opportunities and topics covered are made independently. No internal roles can be purchased by sponsors. We take no government sponsorship.
